Description
The old State Theater in downtown Anderson, South Carolina. Located on the "Square" near Wren Park, this was - for many baby boomers - the first place to see a movie on a big screen. Percy Osteen was the owner, and in 1972, Osteen built the Osteen Theatre a few blocks away on Main Street @ Greenville Street. The State Theater was sold and purchased by the Anderson Community Theatre Guild, which later became the Alverson Center Theatre.
